Case Studies
Real jobs, real streets, real certificates.
No stock photography, no generic case studies. Every project below is a completed job — a Sheffield address, a real fault or brief, and the certified work that fixed it.
Future Electrical Solutions has completed hundreds of jobs across Sheffield and the surrounding towns — from small domestic repairs to full commercial fit-outs and MCS-certified solar installs. Below are six recent projects, each covering a different service, told the way they actually happened: what the customer called us about, what we found, what we did, and how it was left.
Nether Edge, Sheffield
Full House Rewire
Domestic Electrical
A 1930s semi with wiring nobody could certify.
The problem: the owners of a three-bed semi in Nether Edge were selling and had an EICR come back with multiple C1 and C2 faults — old rubber-sheathed cabling, no RCD protection, and a fusebox that hadn't been touched since the 1970s.
The work: a complete rewire over five days, new consumer unit with full RCD/RCBO protection, and every circuit brought up to current standard, chased and made good before the next trade went in.
The outcome: a clean EICR, full BS 7671 certification, and a sale that went through without the buyer's solicitor raising a single query.

Kelham Island, Sheffield
Office & Workshop Fit-Out
Commercial Electrical
A shell unit, wired for a design studio and workshop in one.
The problem: a growing design and fabrication business took on a bare shell unit in Kelham Island and needed three-phase power to the workshop floor alongside standard office circuits, data cabling and emergency lighting — on a tight fit-out deadline.
The work: full first and second fix across both zones, three-phase distribution board for workshop machinery, dedicated ring mains for the office, and emergency/exit lighting to meet fire regulations.
The outcome: signed off and certified two days ahead of the fit-out deadline, with EICR and full documentation handed over for the landlord's records.

Solar PV & Battery Install
Solar PV & Battery Storage
A south-facing roof, finally put to work.
The problem: a family in Hillsborough had a large, unshaded south-facing roof and rising electricity bills, but wanted to know exactly what they'd generate and save before committing.
The work: a full MCS-certified survey and design, followed by installation of a 4.2kW panel array with an integrated battery storage system sized to cover typical evening usage.
The outcome: the household now covers the majority of daytime usage from solar generation, with the battery carrying them through most evenings — plus export payments for anything unused.

Driveway EV Charge Point
EV Charging
New EV, old consumer unit — sorted in a day.
The problem: a Crookes homeowner had just taken delivery of an electric vehicle and needed a home charge point, but their existing consumer unit had no spare capacity for a new dedicated circuit.
The work: consumer unit assessment and a small upgrade to free up capacity, followed by installation of an OZEV-compliant smart charger on the driveway with tariff-aware scheduling set up on handover.
The outcome: charging overnight on the cheapest tariff window, installed and certified in a single visit.

Broomhill, Sheffield
Fire Alarm Upgrade
Fire
An HMO landlord, one step ahead of the inspection.
The problem: a landlord with a licensed HMO in Broomhill had an ageing, standalone smoke detector setup that no longer met current fire safety requirements for a house of multiple occupation.
The work: design and installation of a fully interlinked mains-powered fire detection system across all floors and communal areas, with heat detectors in kitchens and a certified test-and-commission handover.
The outcome: passed the council's HMO inspection first time, with full documentation ready for the licence renewal.

Meersbrook, Sheffield
CCTV & Security Install
Security
After a spate of shed break-ins on the street.
The problem: following a run of shed and garden break-ins in a Meersbrook street, a homeowner wanted proper coverage of the property's exterior and a monitored alarm — not a bolt-on doorbell camera.
The work: a four-camera CCTV system covering all approaches and the garden, integrated with a wired intruder alarm and remote app access, run and terminated neatly with no visible external cabling.
The outcome: full remote monitoring from day one, and the wider street since asked us to quote three more properties.
